We’re thoroughly excited to announce that Dorsum has been selected as a finalist at the SXSW Release It competition on March 8, 2019 in Austin, Texas.
SXSW Release It “provides a platform for companies to launch a new and innovative product or service during a pitch competition on the opening day of the SXSW Conference.” The organizers have selected only 10 startups from around the world to pitch at the competition, where a winner is chosen by a panel of judges. The winner is the company whose product or service is determined by the judges to be “most likely to succeed in the marketplace.”
Dorsum founder and CEO, Leo Ochoa, has been hard at work fine-tuning his pitch with the help of mentors, advisors and peers at PIE Shop, where Dorsum is headquartered. With a stringent 3-minute limit for the pitch, capturing the judges attention, explaining our “why” and “what”, and summarizing the market opportunity and the work that has been completed over the last year+ will be a tall-order – but Leo is locked-in and improving his pitch every day.
Encouragement and motivation abound
Receiving such a prestigious opportunity has motivated and inspired the Dorsum team, demonstrating that the work we are undertaking is meaningful and our approach is promising. While there are still many details to work out around the launch of our first product, SXSW Release It will be an incredible opportunity to introduce our brand and product to a group of entrepreneurs, tech-industry experts, venture capitalists, and those interested in startups. Additionally, it’s a great opportunity to meet new folks, talk with fellow entrepreneurs, and soak in the craziness of SXSW and be immersed in the MedTech and health tech community.
We plan on documenting our experience in beautiful Austin, Texas starting on Thursday March 7th as Leo travels to Austin and through the big pitch on Friday morning. Be sure to follow along with the journey on the Dorsum Instagram! (@dorsumtech)
